Description: The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was established in 1949 by 12 original members. By 2009, there were 28 members. But, with President Obama about to host 50+ world leaders for a NATO Summit in his hometown of Chicago, what does NATO do today, and why does it still matter? On May 8, join us for an exclusive webchat with Dr. Anne-Marie Slaughter to find out.

A frequent contributor to mainstream media outlets, Dr. Slaughter is also active in new media, curating foreign policy news for over 25,000 followers on Twitter. She is a Bert G. Kerstetter ’66 University Professor of Politics and International Affairs at Princeton University. From 2009-2011, she served as Director of Policy and Planning for the U.S. Department of State, the first woman to hold that position, and Foreign Policy magazine has named her to their annual list of the Top 100 Global Thinkers in 2009, 2010, and 2011.
